Change the World Weekend is an effort to rethink church beyond our sanctuaries to the world and communities we inhabit. Change is incremental and hard, but when we work together, we can make a large impact.
The UMW and Missions Team are partnering to provide hands-on, intergenerational ways to be in service to our local community this weekend. We can change the world by starting in our own backyard.
The service projects offered on Saturday will benefit many of Church Street’s ministry partners. We will pack cleaning and hygiene kits for UMCOR, and food buckets for the Ishe Anesu Project in Zimbabwe. Our big project will be packing 20,000 meals that will go to ministries in Knoxville, such as the Beacon of Hope Food Co-op, the food pantry at Lennon-Seeny UMC, and more. Finally, we will be supporting our local college ministry by doing building improvement projects with the Wesley Foundation on UTK’s campus.
