Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues, put on love, which binds them altogether in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful (Colossians 3:12-15).
God of mercy,
You have called us to be your people,
to walk in the steps of Jesus,
to bear His likeness in the heart of Knoxville,
to shine His love to the world.
You feed the hungry through our hands.
You cradle children in your love through our care.
You stir our youth with courage to serve.
You shape our adults in study, prayer, and mission.
All this is your work, O God,
And we give you thanks.
Yet we confess…
Our hearts break when violence scars our cities,
When hatred tears communities and our nation,
When wars ravage your world.
We shed tears when we fail to love,
When we fall short of Christ’s example.
We repent, O Lord.
Forgive us. Restore us. Renew us.
Still, we dare to hope,
for your grace is greater than our sin,
Your mercy is stronger than our weakness.
You breathe courage when we are weary,
You sing peace when we are afraid,
You kindle joy when darkness threatens to overcome us.
So, make us, Lord, a humble people.
Make us a hopeful people.
Make us a holy people,
Disciples who shine with Christ’s light,
Who love with Christ’s heart,
Who serve with Christ’s hands.

Now we pray…
Our Father, our Holy One,
Dwelling not far away but here among us,
Your name is love,
Your name is holy.
Let your will for this world come alive,
Your justice, your mercy, your peace
On this earth as in your heaven.
Give us today the bread we need,
And the grace to share it with others.
Forgive us when we fall short,
As we release the debts and wounds
We hold against one another.
Lead us away from the roads of fear and temptation,
Deliver us from the shadows of hatred and harm.
For the universe is yours,
And the power is yours,
And the glory is yours,
From the dawn of creation to the end of all ages.
Amen.
