A Prayer for a Newness of Life
Anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new.
The old life is gone; a new life emerges! Look at it! (2 Corinthians 5:17) – The Message
Gracious and Eternal God,
You are the One who orders the seasons and sustains all creation. As the earth turns and the days shift, you remind us that change is part of your good design. Today, we come as your people of Church Street, asking that the changing seasons around us awaken the renewing work you desire to do within us.
Lord, in this season of transition, may our hearts be turned toward hope.
Where we have grown weary, breathe new strength.
Where we have become discouraged, sow seeds of courage.
Where we have settled into routines that no longer bring life, stir us again by your Spirit.
As fall gives way to winter, teach us to trust the rhythms of grace you have written into all creation. Remind us that nothing in you is wasted, and no season is without purpose.
We pray for those among us who enter seasons they did not choose.
For the grieving, the ill, the lonely, and the overwhelmed,
Wrap them in your steadfast love.
Let your presence be their warmth, your peace their shelter.
We pray for our church, including its ministries, missions, and all who serve.
In this season of change, lead us with clarity and root us in prayer.
Strengthen us to be a beacon of compassion and mercy in Knoxville and throughout the Holston Conference.
Lord, make us attentive to the hidden work you are doing.
Give us eyes to see new possibilities, ears to hear your still small voice,
And hearts ready to respond with faith.
And when a new season arrives, whether bright or challenging,
Full of promise or full of questions, help us to receive it with gratitude, trust, and grace.
For you are our constant, our Refuge, our Redeemer,
The One who goes before us and walks beside us.
We offer this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ,
who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Amen!
We pray for …

- One who is waiting on report from recent medical testing.
- Teenagers who are having a difficult time at school
- Parents who are wanting to make good choices for their children’s education
We continue to pray for …

- Complete healing from cancer; please restore my body to health!
- A friend who is in hospital with liver failure
- Two good friends who have been diagnosed with cancer … one who just retired and has throat cancer; another who had overcome bladder cancer three years ago and now has spots on liver. Prayers for healing as they begin treatments.
- Blessings for a good friend; and blessings on her sons.
- A young man with schizophrenia; prayers that he gets the help he needs; thankful for a supportive family and community
- All those who are grieving recent deaths and those who are remembering years gone by!
- Friends and family who are struggling and have special needs.

- So many in our congregation dealing with cancer treatments and caring for those with cancer.
We give thanks for ….
- Good friend who has walked alongside a couple during illness and grief
- The birth of a healthy grandson!
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
