Weekly Prayers for the Church Street Family

Week of May 7, 2025

Gracious God,
This is the time of year that parents refer to as “Maycember!”
Graduations, final exams, and proms. Past-due library books and parking fines.
One last report to turn in.
Programs and recitals and snacks for the whole class!
We pray for the whole world, O God, but tonight we are aware of all the stresses that parents of school children feel!
We pray for college students who are finishing classes and preparing for exams.
Our thoughts are with teachers from Pre-K to graduate school! So many expectations and emotions and deadlines.
Tonight as we join in prayer, may we take a collective deep breath for those who feel out of breath!
May they feel the presence of our prayers, O God.
Dear God, may everyone feel the calm of your Holy Spirit.
And may those of us who are not in the midst of Maycember, be patient and understanding with those who are.
We pray for all who are hurting, all who are grieving, and all who feel lost.
We gather as a church family and pray for those who have requested to be remembered in prayer…..

We pray for…

  • The Roman Catholic Church as the process to select a new pope begins; praying for all of the Cardinals as they pray and discern.
  • A family in the death of young adult son from an accident; prayers for grandparents and all extended family.
  • One who is in hospital; hoping to move to rehab soon to regain strength.
  • Relative having spinal surgery today; prayers for good recovery and healing.
  • A member struggling with PT and healthcare system.
  • A wife who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Prayers for a good appointment this week as she gets clarity about  next steps.
  • For a couple; prayers for the wife as she deals with violence in the relationship. Praying she has courage to leave and will seek the support from family and friends.

We continue to pray for…

  • A teenage granddaughter who is having hip surgery in July but dealing with other health concerns now. Please pray that her energy level will return and that her body remains strong! Those who are grieving the sudden death – it always seems sudden, even when expected – of loved ones.
  • One who is seeking direction on work / career concerns.
  • Those navigating all the decisions when dealing with chronic illness of parents; especially Alzheimer’s.
  • Friends and family members needing prayers
  • A wife who has been diagnosed with stage-4 metastatic cancer; prayers for her family.

We give thanks for….

  • A friend’s good news about surgery
  • Our Seniors in High School and college

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
