Event Details
Each Thanksgiving week, Church Street provides boxes of food for our neighbors in need at Wesley House and Family Promise of Knox County, as well as to persons connected with our mission ministries. The Sunday before Thanksgiving, anyone who can help — young to old — gathers in our gym and we pack 115 of these boxes, assembly-line style, in record time. Each basket contains items for a Thanksgiving dinner, such as green beans and canned ham, as well as pantry staples, like peanut butter and cereal. It is a meaningful, fun, and joy-filled morning of intergenerational mission work!
WHEN & WHERE: Please join us in the Gym during the Sunday School hour on Nov. 19. You do not need to sign up to participate in the packing blitz — just show up by 9:45 am in the Gym!
HOW TO HELP: The cost of a Thanksgiving Basket is about $70. You can donate online or by check to designate a donation toward the cost of providing this food.
We need lots of hands (and vehicles!) to successfully distribute boxes to our ministry partners and individuals this year. If you are interested in delivering holiday cheer to our neighbors in need, please sign up in the CLC Hallway between worship services on 11/19, the day of the Thanksgiving Basket Blitz!
