All are welcome to hear Col. Alex “Alpo” Portelli (ret.) of Greensboro, NC, who will speak in the Parish Hall during the Sunday School hour on January 5th. He has worked nonstop in support of relief and recovery efforts in his state since Hurricane Helene departed and will share his experiences as he interacted with the flood victims of Western North Carolina, raising over $2 million for needed food and supplies. Through his Rotary organization he also spearheaded the Million Meal March for Ukraine.
Born in the U.S. and raised in Norway, Col. Portelli holds master’s degrees in Scandinavian Studies from the University of MN and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College; and is fluent in five languages. His thirty-one-year military service took him to over fifty-one countries in Europe, as well as Russia, Israel, and Honduras.
