Church Street UMC’s Safety, Accessibility, Security and Health (or SASH) Committee strives to make our church and grounds more accessible and safe. Church Street was awarded the Gold Badge after completion of a comprehensive accessibility audit by the Disabilities Committee of the UMC.

Elevators are located at the Welcome Center, the Breezeway, and the Youth Department.

Parking

  • Covered drop off at Welcome Center Door Entrance
  • 14 (total) marked accessible spaces-2 located in Welcome Center lot; 10 located in Hill Avenue lot; 2 located in Youth Department Lot

Accessible Ways to Enter the Sanctuary

  • From Welcome Center Lot (preferred): automatic push button door opener at Welcome Center and can access elevator
  • From Hill Avenue Lot: cross Hill Avenue and use accessible path from Hill Avenue sidewalk to enter back of Sanctuary
  • From Youth Department Lot:
    • Enter youth department building and take elevator to 2nd (Gym-Level) floor hallway walking through the Church Life Building, exit building, and arrive at Breezeway area.  Then a. (preferred path) turn left and follow sidewalk around to Welcome Center lot to arrive at Welcome Center or b. turn right to access Breezeway Elevator OR
    • Stay outside of all buildings, following Hill Avenue sidewalk along the campus past the Breezeway and use the accessible path from Hill Avenue

Accessing the Chancel Lift

From inside the Sanctuary go toward the Chancel area and exit the Sanctuary through the left door closest to the left side of the Chancel to the hallway.  An usher will see and meet you along the way, escort you to the hallway door accessing the Chancel Lift, and assist you from there and later lead you back into the Sanctuary

  • 1931 (Oldest) Building-down the hallway from the Sanctuary near room 204 (also a unisex bathroom)
